The Enphase Energy System
A smarter, safer, future-proof way to generate, store, and use your own power
When we design a solar system, we’re not just fitting panels — we’re designing an energy ecosystem around your home, your habits, and your future plans.
That’s why we build around Enphase Energy — the global leader in intelligent, modular solar technology.
This page explains what makes Enphase different, how the system works together, and why it’s the most robust home energy solutions available today.
The Core Difference: Microinverters (Not One Central Inverter)
At the heart of the system is the Enphase IQ Microinverters, widely regarded as the most reliable in the industry with the longest warranty of any inverter on the market, 25 years as standard.

Traditional solar systems rely on one central string inverter. If it fails, the whole system stops. Performance is also dragged down by shading, dirt, or weaker panels. The output of the weakest panel determines the output of all panels connected in a string inverter.
Enphase uses microinverters — one behind every panel.
What that means for you:
- Each panel works independently
- Shade on one panel does not affect the others
- No single point of failure
- Longer lifespan and higher real-world output
- Much safer (low-voltage AC on the roof, not high-voltage DC)
At the heart of the system is the Enphase IQ Microinverters, widely regarded as the most reliable in the industry.
Live Monitoring: Total Transparency, Total Control

Every Enphase system includes full monitoring via the Enphase Enlighten App.
From your phone or tablet, you can see:
- Live solar generation
- Household electricity use
- Battery charge & discharge
- Grid import and export
- Historical performance (hourly, daily, yearly)
This isn’t “installer-only” data.
It’s your energy, clearly displayed.
Battery Storage: Add Now or Add Later — No Problem

Enphase batteries are fully modular and plug-and-play.
The current flagship is the Enphase IQ Battery 5P.
Key battery facts (plain English):
- Usable capacity: 5.0 kWh per unit
- Continuous power: 3.84 kW per battery
- Peak power: ~7.6 kW (short bursts)
- Round-trip efficiency: ~90%
- Warranty: 15 years
Charge & discharge in the real world
- Batteries charge from surplus solar automatically
- Discharge to power your home when the sun goes down
- Multiple batteries stack seamlessly for higher power & capacity
- No single “big battery” risk — redundancy built in
- Add another battery, not only do you increase the energy stored, you double to power delivery into the home.
- Each battery has 6 built in microinverters. Only 5 operate. If any one fails, the 6th then comes into use.
- Less down time, more power.
Future-proof by design
You don’t have to install batteries on day one.
If your usage changes, electricity prices rise, or EV ownership increases, additional batteries can be added without redesigning the system.
There are several unique features in a battery powered by microinverters, and rather than explain them, we sat down with Enphase UK and Ireland Director, Michael Burgess to explain more.

Backup Power: Keep the Lights On When the Grid Fails

With the addition of the Enphase IQ System Controller, your system can provide automatic backup power. Standard systems will only operate when connected to the grid. When the grid goes down, the system stops operating. This is protect any engineer working on the grid. Having solar energy feed the grid when it’s being worked on can have dire consequences. So EnPhase have developed their whole house back up system.
What happens in a power cut?
- Grid failure detected in milliseconds
- Your home safely disconnects from the grid
- Solar and batteries continue powering essential circuits
- When the grid returns, the system reconnects automatically
Backup can be:
- Partial home (essential circuits only)
- Whole home (subject to system sizing)
This isn’t a generator workaround — it’s seamless, silent resilience.
EV Charging: Solar-First Driving

The Enphase EV Charger integrates directly into the ecosystem.
Smart features:
- Charge directly from surplus solar
- Adjustable charge rates
- Scheduled off-peak charging
- Works with or without batteries
- Fully visible in the same monitoring app
This allows genuine solar-powered driving, not just “charging from the grid at night.”
One Ecosystem. One App. One Responsibility.
Most solar systems today are:
- Panels from one brand
- Inverter from another
- Battery from someone else
- Charger from somewhere completely different
Enphase is different.
Everything is designed to work together:
- Panels + microinverters
- Batteries
- Backup system
- EV charging
- Monitoring
One ecosystem. One app. One warranty structure.
Why We Choose Enphase
We design and install exceptionally good solar. With 18 yrs behind us in the solar industry, we know what works and works well.
Enphase systems are:
- Technically superior
- Safer by design
- Easier to expand
- Easier to understand
- Proven globally at massive scale
They cost a little more than basic systems — and for clients who care about performance, reliability, and future flexibility, they are worth it.
Enphase is the global leader in residential microinverter technology — holding a significant share of the U.S market and a dominant position in panel-level power electronics. While other manufacturers may lead in utility or volume string deployments worldwide, Enphase’s focus on reliability, modular expansion, long warranties, best-in-class monitoring, and future-proof home electrification gives homeowners a strong value proposition over life of system.
