In Countries where governments look after their citizens, energy prices are not going up anywhere near what they are here in the UK.
In context. The UK will see a 215% increase in energy costs this year alone. In Germany it’s 23%, across the EU the average is 41% and in France it’s 4%.
The French appear to have sussed out how to make profit from our energy companies as the likes of E.D.F. The French state owned energy giant raked in profits of £117,000,000 from UK customers last year, which has helped subsidise their costs over in France.
And there was me thinking we had taken back control. Another lie eh?
The extortionate profits that energy companies make are favoured by our local MP’s over helping the country’s citizens, one of which is vying for the top job in Number 10 Downing Street. She also objects to renewable energy from solar panels, and favours fracking. For those who don’t know what fracking is, it’s the process of raping the ground beneath our very feet to abstract the extremely hard to reach gas embedded in rock. Gasses escape and get into the water table and also cause minor earth tremors. They do this because we’re running out of the easy stuff to burn.
Whereas solar, wind and tidal energy is there every day. The sun rises and we turn daylight into energy. The wind blows, and we turn the wind into energy. The same every 12hrs and 24minutes with the tide. But there is no monster pay-out for energy companies if we all generate our own energy so this government will never support renewables full on as they lose out in the boardrooms and rabid right wing, tax avoiding national newspapers that prop up this failing government.
Let’s look at what our Politicians are ‘lumping’ on us in real terms.
Electricity is measured in units called kilowatt hours, or KWH. If your energy company charges you 30p/kwh and you use 5,5000 kwh over a year, your electricity bill will be £1,650 add the wholly avoidable 78% increase in October which will take costs to £2,937 for the same 5,5000kwh and the 15% increase in January will take you up to £3,377 for the same 5,5000kwh.
All of this is avoidable. As other countries that look after their citizens have demonstrated.
So whilst our local MP’s support fracking, blame Putin, Covid recovery and worldwide demand through their mouth pieces every morning at the newsagents, readers of the Lynn news know the truth.
And on solar. Owners of a 4kw solar system will be generating around 22-25kwh a day in recent weeks. That’s over £6 worth of energy a day and with a battery and hot water diversion, they can utilise most of that and take no more than 1kwh or so from the energy companies.
But our current politicians don’t want you to know that.
